Beschreibung
This book focuses on major issues of political philosophy and social justice within Nigerian social context. The shift from theoretical frameworks to practical policy issues hinges on the idea that political philosophy affects social change. Mankind changes and society evolves and thus there is the imperative to examine the existing ideologies with a view to providing authentic alternative options and juxtaposing same with the needs of the society at any given epoch. Social justice involves the impartial consideration of the interest of very body in the distribution of social goods benefit and privileges, but Nigerian social context displays an arrangement that is skewed in favour of the rich and the powerful class. Values, such as honesty, hard work, integrity, tolerance, compassion, empathy, reciprocity, respect for tradition and respect for elders are fast giving way to alien value systems. These and other relevant philosophical issues are given thorough consideration as well as exemplified with the detailed practical implications.
