Bernd Schulz studierte Forstwirtschaft und ist seit 1993 am Institut für Botanik der TU Dresden tätig. Parallel bildete er sich zeichnerisch. Er ist Autor und Herausgeber dendrologischer Standardwerke sowie zahlreicher Einzelpublikationen und bekannt für kunstvolle Zeichnungen der Gehölzdetails.
