This collection of essays offers an inspiring overview of innovative approaches to Religious Education (RE) within the context of community schools in Germany. The contributors deal with challenges that the school subject of RE has been facing in many countries. This is the reason why they are convinced that the perspectives, discussions and practical suggestions collected in this volume will be of benefit to scholars, stakeholders, teachers and students of RE beyond German-speaking countries. This book is a revised and updated translation of the volume "Religionspädagogik weiterdenken", published in 2023 - the anniversary volume of the renowned German book series "Religionspädagogik innovativ". For the purpose of this edition, the essays and bibliographies have been revised with a view to taking account of international research and discourse in this field of study and to reaching a readership who may not have detailed knowledge of Religious Education in German-speaking countries.
