2014 präsentierte Deutsche Grammophon die Claudio Abbado-Symphony Edition mit vier Einzel-Editionen, die dem symphonischen Werk jeweils eines Komponisten gewidmet waren. Nach Brahms, Bruckner, Mahler und Mozart erscheinen jetzt vier weitere Editionen mit wichtigen Aufnahmen von Beethoven, Haydn, Mendelssohn und Schubert unter der Leitung des genialen Dirigenten. Die Beethoven-Edition bietet auf 10 Tonträgern neben den Symphonien Nr. 1 9 mit den Berliner Philharmonikern die Klavierkonzerte Nr. 1 5 mit Maurizio Pollini und das Tripelkonzert op. 56 mit Alexander Lonquich, Ilya Gringolts und Mario Brunello als Solisten. Weitere Highlights stellen die Chorfantasie op. 80 mit Yevgeny Kissin und Ah! perfido op. 65 mit Cheryl Studer, die Ouvertüren Leonore Nr. 2 op. 72, Coriolan op. 62 und Zur Namensfeier op. 115 sowie die Musik zu Goethes Egmont op. 84 und Leonore Prohaska WoO 96 dar.
